Christian Hjallum Johnsen is a freeski athlete from Heming IL, born in 2007. He competes in both slopestyle and big air, and this season he’s aiming for the Student OL in China in January 2027. In his own words:

On skis since day one

“I’ve been on skis my whole life, and I’ve never stopped loving it. When I was 16, I found freeski, and I haven’t looked back since.

Why freeski

What I love most is the creativity. In freeski you can be exactly as creative as you want, and to me, it’s all about making everything look like a dance. That’s what makes it so fun. There’s no right way to do it, only your way.

The tricks I love

My favorites are the bio 720 tailgrab and the carve cork 720 tailgrab. They just feel right, with flow and style. And when I want to go bigger, nothing beats the double bio 1440 eskimo.

This season

This winter, I’m working towards the Student OL in China in January 2027. It’s a big goal for me, and I’m putting everything into it.”

The rest of the crew

Christian rides with the BUSI crew, skiers and snowboarders who ride, test and wear the gear all winter.
